Star City Bullies: American Bully Breeder in Virginia

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

My name is Michael Fowler, of Star City Bullies. We are located in Roanoke, VA.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

I breed American Bullies. I got my first bully Jada, and fell in love with her size and temperament.

What is your favorite bloodline?

Probably Bossy’s Blood right now.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

The characteristics of a good breeder in my eyes, is someone that loves dogs and the breed. Responsible breeders don’t just chase money, they look to better their product. Also, they take pride in their name.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

My dogs mostly eat Purina Pro Plan and some Rachael Ray products, along with some ground beef and eggs.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

I feed my dogs twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, as I run a separate business as well.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

We throw the ball a lot, and go on regular walks / hikes.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from your kennel from start to finish.

  • Once contacted by a potential customer we provide any information they would like.
  • We then agree on a price and collect a deposit on said picks.
  • After 8 weeks  their fur babies are ready to head to their new homes.
  • We fly them to their destinations. Most of the time, we do hand to hand transactions.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

We do not currently show, but look to in the near future.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?

Do not do it for the money.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

I think people get the wrong impression that this is a get rich kinda deal, and it is not. So I’d say financials are the most difficult part of it.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

I would suggest being patient and having initial start up costs up front.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

Bossy's, because of the brand they have built and the pride they take in their setups.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

Ten years from now I’d like to see the community work together, instead of against each other. So much hate is built up between rival kennels. There’s enough meat on the bone for everyone that wants to do things right.

What separates your kennel from the competition?

What separates us from our competitors is that we value our name and product. We believe in doing honest business, while charging a fair price. We also get our pups to our clients faster than most by using flight transport.=

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I’m a huge sports fan. So I’d say sports, sports and more sports. Also, of course my dogs.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

I think highly of Bully Girl Magazine, and thank you for reaching out to us. We enjoyed it.

Hello. My boyfriend and I are looking for a bully puppy. If you could give me some more information about your puppies, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
