My name is Mark Perez, founder of Crooked City Bullys. You can find us in Corpus Christi, TX.

 

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

I breed fully functional Exotic Bullies. I was inspired by the big breeders from all over the world. There is nothing greater than to see your productions all around the world.

What is your favorite bloodline?

Choosing a favorite bloodline is hard. There is so much in each bloodline, so I try to use some of this and some of that to create something new.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

A responsible bully breeder must always fly straight and keep it 100 with their customers. 

 

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

My dogs eat better than me at times lol. I make sure to give them a balanced and nutritious diet. Also, I keep my dogs in an air conditioned facility and always give them the exercise they need.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

I feed my dogs two times a day. Once before I go to work, and once after work. 

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

I try to keep my dogs looking short, thick and stacked. I always say, a good bloodline always comes together by walking your dog, and letting them play in yard. This will keep your dogs happy and healthy.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from your kennel from start to finish.

Crooked City Bullys has a lot of repeat breeders who buy from us. I have been blessed to sell out most breedings, before the pups even hit the ground. 

I do not accept deposits until I know that the pups are good to go. Once I know for sure that there are no flaws or health issues, I open up the breeding to the public. Then I will accept a deposit, and the balance is due when the pup is ready to go to their new forever home.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

Yes. I try to make it to all the bully shows. 

 

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?

My advice to upcoming bully breeders, is to accept that this is not easy.There is a lot of blood, sweat and tears behind the scenes. You’ve got to take the good with the bad. Sometimes you win big. Sometimes you lose big. However, never give up! Keep moving forward, and always stay humble no matter what. Remember, before you made it big, you too were once a window shopper.

 

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

There's going to be a time you feel like giving up. Taking losses at bully shows, or even financial losses, can make you feel some type of way.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

Overcome that with success. Don’t give up! Never be satisfied. Push and push, and you will get it.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

First man off hand is my boy from Mikelands Kennel. He put me down from day one. Then there is Jorge, from the Bully Camp Line, who showed me how to make that money. Lastly, there Luis, from Interstate Bullies. Luis showed me to add color to my program. I study from the best, to be one of the best. I'm not there yet, but hopefully I will be one day.

Tell us about one of your main goals for the year 2020.

My main goal for 2020 is to make a name for my kennel. I want to be known for producing nice bulls worldwide.

 

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

In the next ten years, I would love to see new faces and more family's involved with the bully breed.

What separates your kennel from the competition?

What separates Crooked City Bullys, from different kennels, is we stay in our own lane. We move in silence.I tell my crew no trash talking, no drama and always do good business.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I have a lot of hobbies, so I stay pretty busy. I own my own youth football team, CC Bullys. Also, I love to fix up lowriders, and I help train kids in high school football.
