State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

My name is Justin Williams, and I'm representing 2500 Bully Yard. We are a small up and coming program, located in Pittsburgh, PA.

 

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

2500 Bully Yard breeds XL american bullies. My inspiration started years ago with Pit Bulls. I have always liked big, athletic dogs. So when I came across the XL American Bully, I just felt like it was a natural fit for me. 

What is your favorite bloodline?

I can't honestly say that I have a single favorite bloodline. I like multiple bloodlines for different reasons, both old school and new. However, if I absolutely had to choose, I would have to say Primeyard. I like the style of dog they are consistently able to produce.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

In my opinion, a responsible breeder should be hands on, detail oriented, dedicated, honest and transparent. 

 

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

I really don't do anything special. We use our favorite dry kibble, mixed with a little bit of canned food. I also use some egg or cottage cheese to add texture for them. I went through the whole "raw diet" phase and honestly I didn't really see much of a difference in my dogs. We also use daily vitamins and supplements. 

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

My feeding schedule for my adult dogs is twice a day. I feed once early in the morning, and then again in the evening. My puppies eat three times a day. They eat in the morning and evening with the adults. I just give them one extra feeding in the afternoon.

How does 2500 Bully Yard keep their dogs in shape throughout the year?

I'm a fairly active person myself. So we do plenty of hiking, swimming, jogging etc. It's not as easy to keep them active in the winter, due to the weather we get here. I try my best to get them out as often as we can (weather permitting). Those that are willing get a lot of treadmill work during those months.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from 2500 Bully Yard, start to finish.

First, I conduct a brief but very detailed interview. I do this to figure out the potential buyers intentions for the pup, as well as the living conditions and experience level with powerful and/or working breeds. If the client is a good fit, a deposit is placed to hold his or her spot. A contract is then put into place to protect the both of us. After that is complete, I do weekly updates until the date of the pups final vet check. Final vet checks are done within 24 hours of the client receiving their new pup. The puppy gets cleared for all health issues, a health certificate is issued, as well as vaccine and deworming records. Last but least, the new family either receives delivery or picks up the puppy.

Does 2500 Bully Yard currently show any dogs?

As of right now I don't show my dogs. I usually attend about 2-4 shows a year. Generally for networking and learning purposes.

 

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?

I would tell any new breeder to stay consistent. Do honest business, and no matter how much time passes never stop educating yourself.

 

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

I feel like the most difficult part of the bully game to overcome is the sheer volume of breeders out there.  Unless you are creative and persistent, it is very easy to get lost "in the mix" for lack of better words.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

The way to overcome that difficulty is to be creative. Never stop trying to raise the bar for yourself, your program and its supporters. Surround yourself with like minded individuals, and no matter what, never give up.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

Right now I would have to say I look up to Lo Lo of LoLo Bullies. I feel like when it comes to consistently producing what I consider to be the ideal look for an XL, he is in a class of his own. On the show and training side of things, I would have to say Danny over at Imperial Bloodline Bullies. In my opinion, he is probably the best in the game. Much respect to both of those guys.

Tell us about one of 2500 Bully Yard's main goals for the year 2020.

Our main goal for 2020 would be to increase our presence at shows. Not only shows in the tri-state area, but I would like to get out to some of the bigger shows on the west coast this year.

 

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

In 10 years I hope to see the bully breed community thriving. I would also like to see more of an emphasis placed on health testing if possible.

What separates 2500 Bully Yard from the competition?

I feel like we have a unique ability to put the right dogs together to compliment each other perfectly. From the looks to tempernment, trainability etc. Also our customer service separates us. We definitely go above and beyond for our clients.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

My other hobbies are all things sports related lol. If I'm not working with the dogs or spending time with my kids or family, there is a 99% chance you can find me either watching, participating in or coaching some type of sport.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

For me, I would say Bully Girl Magazine is and has been a staple in the bully game 10 years now. It's really important for people like me, who are passionate about these dogs, but don't necessarily live in an area where they are popular or even exist for that matter. If it weren't for Bully Girl Magazine people like me wouldn't have access to the information or content that you provide.
