Military Grade Bulldogs: American Bully and Olde English Bulldogge Breeder in North Carolina

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

My name is Romeo, founder of Military Grade Bulldogs. You can find us in Asheville, NC.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

I raise American Bullies and Olde English Bulldogges. I started raising high drive American Pit Bulls, American Bulldogs and Oldes over 20 years ago. I eventually found myself falling madly in love with the look and temperament of the short stocky American Bullies.

These thick bulls looked like they just got out of the gym, with the sweetest cuddly puppy attitude. These dogs just want to be hugged and played with.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

First and foremost, you must love the breed. Second, you must always strive to better the breed. Never take shortcuts to get the look you want, at the expense of the health of your dogs.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

My bullies eat dry meat based food. On occasion, I will feed them RAW.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

I feed my dogs 1-2 times a day, depending on the needs of the dog. Puppies always have food available to them.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

Each of my dogs have a full kennel, and are let out daily to run and play with my kids. This keeps them healthy and active. When we go to the lake and other outdoor activities, we take turns with the dogs. Also on occasion, we do weight pull with the dogs.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Military Grade Bulldogs from start to finish.

First, I advertise early before litters are born, and start a waiting list. We like to give people time to shop around and invest with confidence. This ensures that they are getting the right dog for them. We are always available to speak to people, whether they purchase a dog from us or not. I love the bully breed, and enjoy talking with people about these dogs.

For those who have decided to join the Military Grade Family, we accept deposits and picks are to be made at 3 weeks old. When someone buys a puppy from us, they are not just a customer, they are family. We stay in contact regularly, with almost all the people that have purchased from us. We also post them up on our social media, unless they request not to.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

We plan on showing some of our dogs. However, due to covid restrictions, I have not been able to yet.

What advice does Military Grade Bulldogs have for any upcoming breeders?

Make sure you love the dogs you choose to breed. Take your time and research the different lines. Talk to as many different breeders as possible before rushing into purchasing a puppy. Otherwise, you might be unhappy when the pup is grown. Remember, all puppies are cute. Start with a good quality female.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

The hardest thing to overcome in my opinion, are the scammers and bad breeders, that knowingly take advantage of new buyers.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

Take your time and be patient with people that have lots of questions, and are worried for whatever reason. Be someone they can trust and rely on.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

I look up to old school dog breeders, like Gottiline etc. Without people like that, there wouldn't be the different styles of bullies today.

What separates Military Grade Bulldogs from the competition?

We are a small family bully camp that invests in the quality of our females, just as much as we do our males. Consistency should be the standard and the goal of every breeding. We believe that 100%.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I spend most of my time with my family and bullies. I am an army veteran, and now, power company lineman.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

I very much love Bully Girl Magazine. From the minute I came across Bully Girl, I’ve been a big fan. I keep the Bully Girl Mobile App on my phone. Bully Girl truly does great work, and I very much appreciate this opportunity to be featured.
