What You Need to Know About Bully Dog Breeds?

There are almost 8 billion people living on the planet earth. An astounding 68 percent of the global population are pet owners, with over 90 million of those pets being dogs. Recent research shows that Bully Dog Breeds account for around 20 percent of the United States dog population alone. A lot of people are confused about which dogs belong to the bully dog breed category. Well, let’s see if we can clarify that today.

Types Bully Breed Dogs

Bully Breed Dogs are referred to as a “strong breed” of dog. From hearing the word “Bully”, most people will immediately associate this category of dog with the American Pit Bull Terriers, Bulldogs, Bull Mastiffs, Bull Terriers, English and French Bulldogs.

However, the having word “Bull” in the name is not all that makes a dog fall into this category. Many other popular dog breeds such as American Staffordshire Terriers, and even Boxers fall into the Bully Dog Breeds category.

As stated earlier these dogs all share the common trait of being considered a “strong breed” of dog. This is because they are all descendents of the Molosser, a powerful, heavy-muscled canine that originated in Greece. The Molosser was bred over and over with all types of dog breeds to create the perfect guard dog, which would be used to protect livestock.

Despite the stereotype, Bully Dog Breeds are not an aggressive or dangerous breed. These dogs possess amazing temperament, and are great with families and small children. When it comes to the bully dog breed, there are no bad dogs, only bad owners. Any dog given improper socialization training, and poor living conditions, will take a turn for the worst at some point. With that said, it is very important to show this breed love, and respect from a puppy into adulthood.

With all of the different breeds that were bred to the Molosser, it would take days to list every dog that falls into the Bully Dog Breed category. Below is a list of the most popular Bully Dog Breeds, in no particular order of popularity.
