Braggin Rights Bullies East Coast | XL American Bully Breeder in North Carolina

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

We are the Faisal family, which is my wife Sara, our kids, and myself (Fez). Our kennel is Braggin Rights Bullies East Coast, and we are located in Greensboro, North Carolina.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

We breed American Bully XLs. My wife not only inspired me like dogs, but her passion, love and dedication made me fall in love with American Bullies. Seeing the bond and the benefit they bring into a human being’s life, made it a done deal for me.

What is your favorite bloodline?

I’ll let my wife have the mic for this one, “This is such a difficult question to answer, yet one of our favorite things to discuss. Without a doubt, we have a heart for the old school lines and always will. Yet at the same time, the newer generations that have been established also have many many things we love. Hands down we love Greyline, Gottie, Razors Edge, Mikeland, and more; but WatchDog is hands down our favorite. Our male Kaizer is Watchdog and Razors Edge.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

A reliable breeder is someone who has a passion that drives them to keep learning more to perform better. They take their kennel seriously in the care and health of their dogs. Responsible breeders perform steps to ensure high quality and good information for their customers.

Responsible breeders take consideration in the temperament of their dogs and puppies when matching to a potential family.  They provide information, and gauge if a new buyer is prepared or is sufficiently  informed about the breed and it’s needs. A breeder should also take seriously the stigma and misconceptions of this breed without a doubt.

Research not only into the dogs in your program, but research regarding the health of past ancestors that contribute to the pedigree of your dog should be done as well. Above all else, responsible breeders should have a plan and a clear vision for their program that holds high standards. They must protect the breed, and be dedicated towards the positive conditions and outlook of every dog that has been produced.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

At Braggin Rights Bullies East Coast we prefer to feed the B.A.R.F. Diet. We prefer raw and natural food options. I would like to say our diets also depend on each dog’s needs, activity, and age. This allows each dog to have meals fit for their individual diet.

When we do use kibble we prefer either BullyMax or Victor Brand food. One goal of Braggin Rights Bullies East Coast is we do not promote or try to get fast growth too quick on young pups. We strive for slow, solid growth.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

We feed our adults twice a day, with small snacks in between if needed, depending on the level and intensity of their activities. We fast our adults 1 day a week, and also consider condition and health when we factor in fasting days.

Puppies get fed 3-4 times a day, with a snack if needed, depending on what we do. We do not free feed here and remove all food once they finish. We do not have fasting days for our puppies.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

We believe activity and work is a major factor of daily life, not just for bullies, but dogs in general. We organize basic everyday things such as flirt poles, treadmill, spring pole, and mental training. We have been putting a massive amount of effort and time into our training.  We plan days that are high intensity and days of mental training. In the winter we use more treadmills and mental work.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Braggin Rights Bullies East Coast from start to finish.

We welcome any and all inquiries about puppies, breedings, or just if someone wants to know more information. So feel free to always ask anything.

  • First an application can be submitted on our website or via email. We also welcome inquiries through our Instagram and Facebook DM’s to begin this process.
  • There will be a small assessment conducted through a series of questions, which allows us to learn about the buyer, their expectations, experience, and what they are looking for.
  • A deposit will be taken on the breeding from which they desire a pup, securing their spot with the signing of a contract.
  • We do offer payment plans sometimes, and any arrangements of the different payment options we offer will be stated within the paperwork.
  • BRB East Coast will conduct a home check before everything is finalized, to ensure enough time for any preparations that may be needed by the buyer in order to prepare for the pup. We will say this, if at any point we feel a home’s conditions are unsafe, we will refuse to sell. The quality of care and life is very important to us.
  • Health tests, registration, and additional breed information and resources will be given to the new owner at pick up/delivery.
  • We request photos every 1-3 months until 1 year of year of age. This allows us to track progress of the dog's condition and growth. We will always be a resource for any of the buyers that join the BRB family, offering information and assistance within our means.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

No, but we have been training and have plans for Ammo to be shown in the future. We hope to enter him into the ring in 2022.

What advice does Braggin Rights Bullies East Coast have for any upcoming breeders?

Plan, plan, plan, research and have patience. Making yourself knowledgeable about the breed first, and understanding as much as possible is very important. Too often people start without having the real knowledge of what it takes such as: the demands, costs, and the dedication to start a successful kennel from the ground up.

I waited 7 years, and I can honestly say trying to move too quickly in my opinion causes so many to crash and in the end, worse of it all, it hurts the dogs that you aided in creating. Stop if you are thinking of money first. The money is a benefit that comes from putting the dogs first, and provides success from the commitment and dedication given to the dogs.

Get involved into the bully community, surround yourself with mentors, and create a clear vision for your kennel. Don’t be afraid to learn more or ask questions. Most importantly, never say you know everything that there is to know because that limits your ability to gain an even better understanding of these beautiful creatures.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

Being able to actually identify and breed for selective traits, and not getting caught up in trends. You need to be able to critically breed, and not breed just two beautiful dogs. This allows one to breed away faults and aquire desired traits.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

Study the breed standards and guidelines within the ABKC, and take courses to learn more details.  Avoid getting caught up in the clout and popularity of a study of pedigrees. This doesn’t always benefit the breedings.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

I look up to kennels and programs that breed for health, and uphold ethical good business with their customers, and the bully community as well. I am inspired daily by many Kennels that I wish success, like our family in Texas Braggin Rights Bullies, Gladstone Kennels, Lovelly Kennels, Incredibullz, and Oasisbulls, just to name a few.

Tell us about one of Braggin Rights Bullies East Coast main goals for 2021.

To finish construction on our 10+ acres of property and build a compound for all our needs. We want to be able to provide a place to perform in-house services, as well as allowing streaming of the facility for viewing.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

  • Better confirmation and structure in both XL and micros.
  • More educational courses or programs to assist and teach new breeders, or a well-established mentor network.
  • Better performance in temperament from breeders (all of us) towards our productions; therefore, creating more successful breed ambassadors.

What separates Braggin Rights Bullies East Coast from the competition?

Braggin Rights Bullies East Coast provides two lines to customers: drive and calm. We breed working dogs even with these two different types of specific temperaments. We breed dogs for people that need them. That's our goal. We aim to provide physical working dogs and calm dogs that can be used for service.

We spent years of waiting, taking courses and continued study in order to provide accurate knowledge and information for our prospective buyers.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

Sara is on her way to get a BA in social work right now, so she is still a full-time student in her free time from being a mom. Being parents to two little ones as well doesn’t allow for a lot of free time for hobbies. So we do our best to create a balanced lifestyle, that is conducive to the needs of all of our kids.

We both also plan to assist people that need service dogs, with our breeding program in the future. Having taken vet assisting before, we are very interested and currently studying genetics and breeding.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

We love the information and connections Bully Girl provides to fellow bully lovers and kennels. We recommend anyone who doesn’t know to follow Bully Girl Magazine, and download their new mobile app!

FEZ! Awesome man! I actually have a little experience with breading and training. I represented a dog variety act in Las Vegas for 7 years. And, I used to represent Lou Mac and Scooter. Not sure if you remember the Australian shepherd that used to do the NFL halftime shows that would catch frisbees and so other insane trick’s with Lou Mac. My buddy David whitworth also trained and showed Queensland heelers and Australian shepherds. I need your email Bud
